This melody is probably only recognized by the older ones among us anyway, but that’s after the first few notes.
I created the backing track with Band In A Box.
Have fun listening!
I’m looking forward to all your videos.Werner.

Very recognizable indeed! Great tone and execution. Man, this warms up nicely. Very well performed. I enjoyed this immensely.

Nice rendition Werner – I liked the fills that weren’t in the Shadows’ version that I know. Your backing track was quite impressive, too.

Unfortunately, I recognized the melody all too well. I also noted all those nice fills in between the original melody. Great tone, also, Werner.

Apparently I’m old enough. Immediately recognized! A classic! But you play it with some additions, Werner and make it your your own. Top performance and a pleasure to listen to!

Loved every bit of it Werner! I was take way back with that tune, and it has lots of good memories. Really enjoyed the music and the video with doggie. This may be your best challenge yet!

Recognized it immediately Werner. You managed to put your own spin on it and made it yours. Nice pooch too!

Ah, this brought me back to my days as a teenager with my neighbor’s borrowed Strat. I got an additional kick out of seeing you grin while doing the little scratchy part on the Low-E. You bribed your live audience, so the barking doesn’t count, but the playing gets an A+.

That used to be a favorite with me and all my old surf buddies back in the days when long boards were the only kind of surfboards available. Well played, and nice job on the recording and video!

4 notes in, Werner it was recognisable. That tone was awesome. It’s one of my favourites and I would say one of your best. Well done.

Nice one Werner (and dog)! I recognize the melody, but don’t know the name of the tune. Got a cool surf & western vibe. Nice!

Nice choice, Werner. If this isn’t what you call an iconic riff, I don’t know what is. Of course, I recognized it instantly. I may have to take a closer look at Band in a box, it seems.

Very well done, Werner. 👍🏽 I heard the melody before, but, like Bill, I could not name it: Cool, I am still young.
(I have to tell that to my Kids – they won’t believe me 😊)
You played very well. I especially liked the little scratching sound – very cool. Thanks for your hint regarding Emerald guitars. I immediately wanted to book a factory tour – those guitars really do look great! Alas, the factory was too far to the south for our trip through Ireland. We only travelled in the south.
But I will return – starting my trip in Galway and going North from there.
Danke nochmals! Herzliche Grüße aus dem Allgäu.Bluesige Grüße

Very recognisable sounds great , one of the first tunes I got to grips with back in the day , I like the interplay you have created almost answering the main lead ,you put your own stamp on this one .

What a fun post Werner! Similar to your dog, I enjoyed it a lot. Your playing was very well done with spot on tone and timing. And I love your cool percussive scratch technique. Well, in the end there were two indications I’m old in that I (1) immediately recognized the theme, and (2) couldn’t think of the name😂. Cheers, Tom

Yep … I’m old enough! You added some extra to make it your own. Well played Werner. How did you train your dog to join in at the end, but not before!

Instantly recognizable riff for me as well (feeling old I guess). Your own additions were fun to listen to, very well done overall! And the pup knew when it was time for a treat, how cute!

The name of the song is “Apache” and it even has its own Wikipedia entry. There the explanation begins with the following text.
“Apache” is a tune written by Jerry Lordan and first recorded by Bert Weedon. Lordan played the song on ukulele to the Shadows while on tour and, liking the song, the group released their own version which topped the UK Singles Chart for five weeks in mid-1960.[1] The Shadows’ guitarist Hank Marvin developed the song’s distinctive echo and vibrato sound. After hearing the Shadows’ version, Danish guitarist Jørgen Ingmann released a cover of the song in November 1960 which peaked at number 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 in the US.
If you want to know more about it – just search for “Apache instrumental” in Wikipedia.
Thank you for your interest in this classic.
Werner
