Hi Active Melody Friends!
Just like many of you, including Brian, I am a big fan of Eric Clapton, have always been, and that’s probably why I’m here, I guess 😉 I can hear Clapton’s style in most of Brian’s lessons, not just the “designated” EC ones. Therefore, I am not sure what possessed me to pick EP015, I must have fallen victim of the “looks easy” lure, haha! Well, it was a true challenge but now I’m glad I did it, sort of 😉
Looking forward to watching all the entries. Oh, and coincidentally, I’m also looking forward to seeing Eric Clapton/Jimmy Vaughan playing here in Las Vegas this Friday!

Sounds really good. I love fingerpicked guitar but have never been able to do it myself.

This was amazing JoLa!! I love this tune as well and I think you played it really well. top production, mixing two great tunes in EC style: Ep014 is great to start playing in fingerstyle and some licks of 15 are 100% EC
It could be that I’ll post it too but I don’t know how to ensamble vids (my old pc sucks and can’t stand a lot of video editor)..I’ll come up with somethingAgain congrts for your sub

Hi, Jola!
Very clear rendition! This is one of the coolest ragtime lessons in AM. It was one of the very first lesson I started with AM ever and still my favorite in my playlist. Nice playing.

I get where your coming from with the looks easy till you start to dig into the piece.
The fingerpicking alone would have me stumped, well done and nicely played.

What a great track! At the beginning I thought how well do you play fingerstyle ….. then the second guitar followed and I had to rewind because I was not prepared for it. Great interaction; yes I know that you have progressed incredibly fast in the last few months. But you still put something on it. Jola, that was damn good for me. You are very creative and musical. CHAPEAU!
Play guitar just like you live; don't get bogged down in theory, it's just a tool without feeling.

Jola Layla! I could feel you getting right into it there. You have musicians hands for sure, Very excellent picking. Watch those bends ! Slow them down a little and extend them over the whole note.
Very listenable and melodic. Great editing also. What software are you using?
Clapton in Vegas!!!! Lucky duckling! Say gidday to Eric for us. Stay awesome 🙂
Wish You Were Here

That was just superb JoLa, you were right on the button regarding timing and your fingerstyle was totally syncopated and solid throughout. I thought it was straight out of the top drawer.

Not sure what you meant about “looks easy” because you certainly made this one look simple easy. Your usual meticulous approach captured all of Clapton’s idiosyncrasies in feel and touch. Great sounding acoustic.
Enjoy Vegas…you lucky girl!

Wow, that’s a VERY good sounding ragtime blues por Eric Clapton, JoLa. It sounds very smooth. Sounds like you played it many times already. Like that woody sounds of your acoustic guitar!

Jola…..I don’t think I’ve heard you play any better than on this one. Totally nailed it.
Not at all an easy piece….particularly at that tempo. Bravo!!Enjoy your concert!!

Not only was your playing good but your process of putting it all together. I can see the amount of thought and work you put into this to make it so wonderful to listen to and watch. Can I ask what software you used to give it the effect of ghosting your background playing. JoLa that was fun to watch and your playing has always inspired me the year and a half I’ve been with AM. Thanks

September 7, 2019 at 3:17 pm #143219
Thanks, John! I use iMovie on my Macbook for the video production. For the ghosting effect, I just overlay one video over another and adjust the amount of opacity.

Flawless! That was really a professional level production. Although I was never a Chet Atkins fan, EP014 kind of reminded me of his style of playing, and then EP015 was totally Clapton.
Have fun at the Clapton/Vaughan concert. I wonder how Eric’s fingers are doing, since it was maybe two years ago that he mentioned he had some neurological illness that was causing him to lose feeling and movement in his fingers. I guess one of the benefits of living in Las Vegas is being able to hear a lot of famous musicians and bands, since almost all of them end up being there at some time or other.

Great performance and very nice lessons! Nice idea to combine them. I’ve been trying fingerstyle for some time now, but I’m far from level worth posting 🙂

I am so impressed with your playing. What can I say but WOW.

September 8, 2019 at 5:47 am #143486
I just looked up those two lessons and now I am super impressed. You learned those without the loop and speed control and jam tracks. I’m shying away from his early lessons because of that. I’m lost without that. It just takes so much more time and all rewinding. A big KUDOS to you JoLa.

That was such an uplifting performance, really bright and sunny. All the production talk and filming gets lost on me, but I can appreciate wonderful guitar playing!
Hope you’ll report back on the gig…I did start a gig thread some time ago 😉 -

Hey JoLa – that was great! Very creative!
-
September 8, 2019 at 3:43 pm #143709
Wow JoLa, that was excellent. Your thumb is doing its part well in that finger style, something I find quite difficult. I must look up those two lessons, it is really a good unplugged show you’re putting on there.
Envious of the EC show – have fun./Peter

JoLa that was top draw. You’re an inspiration for us all to work towards. I have not come across this lesson of Brian’s before and it does seem to require a degree of skill but it looks fun and sounds great. Thank you!

That was fantastic JoLa! That’s your best playing yet… and you had the daunting task of doing both parts. Seriously impressive stuff! Loved it!
