September 6, 2019 at 11:05 pm #142930
Hi Active Melody Friends!
Just like many of you, including Brian, I am a big fan of Eric Clapton, have always been, and that’s probably why I’m here, I guess 😉 I can hear Clapton’s style in most of Brian’s lessons, not just the “designated” EC ones. Therefore, I am not sure what possessed me to pick EP015, I must have fallen victim of the “looks easy” lure, haha! Well, it was a true challenge but now I’m glad I did it, sort of 😉
Looking forward to watching all the entries. Oh, and coincidentally, I’m also looking forward to seeing Eric Clapton/Jimmy Vaughan playing here in Las Vegas this Friday!

Sounds really good. I love fingerpicked guitar but have never been able to do it myself.
September 7, 2019 at 12:44 am #142946
that was very well played. Great picking and improv. Very nice guitar sound and recording, too! Well done!
September 7, 2019 at 1:03 am #142950
This was amazing JoLa!! I love this tune as well and I think you played it really well. top production, mixing two great tunes in EC style: Ep014 is great to start playing in fingerstyle and some licks of 15 are 100% EC
It could be that I’ll post it too but I don’t know how to ensamble vids (my old pc sucks and can’t stand a lot of video editor)..I’ll come up with something
Again congrts for your sub

I get where your coming from with the looks easy till you start to dig into the piece.
The fingerpicking alone would have me stumped, well done and nicely played.
September 7, 2019 at 2:28 am #142968
Very soulful picking as usual and great Sound. Perfect.
September 7, 2019 at 3:34 am #142976
What a great track! At the beginning I thought how well do you play fingerstyle ….. then the second guitar followed and I had to rewind because I was not prepared for it. Great interaction; yes I know that you have progressed incredibly fast in the last few months. But you still put something on it. Jola, that was damn good for me. You are very creative and musical. CHAPEAU!
September 7, 2019 at 3:37 am #142977
Jola Layla! I could feel you getting right into it there. You have musicians hands for sure, Very excellent picking. Watch those bends ! Slow them down a little and extend them over the whole note.
Very listenable and melodic. Great editing also. What software are you using?
Clapton in Vegas!!!! Lucky duckling! Say gidday to Eric for us. Stay awesome 🙂
September 7, 2019 at 3:12 pm #143217
Layla, haha, thanks, Craig! 😃
I just use Garageband for audio and the basic iMovie for the production.
September 7, 2019 at 3:54 am #142981
That was just superb JoLa, you were right on the button regarding timing and your fingerstyle was totally syncopated and solid throughout. I thought it was straight out of the top drawer.
September 7, 2019 at 4:09 am #142991
Wow Jola, fantastic. You should join EC on stage! 👍
September 7, 2019 at 4:18 am #142996
That was just so good. Top notch once again in what you bring to the table.
September 7, 2019 at 6:45 am #143049
Wow Jola! Really nice job- start to finish. Very impressive with beautiful fingerpicking and tone!!
September 7, 2019 at 6:45 am #143050
Not sure what you meant about “looks easy” because you certainly made this one look simple easy. Your usual meticulous approach captured all of Clapton’s idiosyncrasies in feel and touch. Great sounding acoustic.
Enjoy Vegas…you lucky girl!
September 7, 2019 at 7:10 am #143062
Nicely done JoLa… You own this! love it!
September 7, 2019 at 7:16 am #143067
Out of the park, JoLa!! I can’t believe how good you have become.
September 7, 2019 at 8:01 am #143086
Wow, that’s a VERY good sounding ragtime blues por Eric Clapton, JoLa. It sounds very smooth. Sounds like you played it many times already. Like that woody sounds of your acoustic guitar!
September 7, 2019 at 9:51 am #143106
Jola…..I don’t think I’ve heard you play any better than on this one. Totally nailed it.
Not at all an easy piece….particularly at that tempo. Bravo!!
Enjoy your concert!!
September 7, 2019 at 10:08 am #143115
Jola, very nice job in layering the 2 tracks together, your playing is very clean and confident. Some of your best work….
September 7, 2019 at 10:20 am #143119
That is just excellent JoLa!
You’ve become an accomplished musician. Right before our eyes. Each month getting better. And now this flowing piece of music with two parts seamlessly intertwined. Bravo!
September 7, 2019 at 11:22 am #143133
really well done, Jola, great rockin rhythm, great fingerpicking and lead tracks, bends, trills, everything working perfectly together, plus great recording. Wow, that really rocked. Enjoy seeing EC live.
September 7, 2019 at 2:15 pm #143198
Not only was your playing good but your process of putting it all together. I can see the amount of thought and work you put into this to make it so wonderful to listen to and watch. Can I ask what software you used to give it the effect of ghosting your background playing. JoLa that was fun to watch and your playing has always inspired me the year and a half I’ve been with AM. Thanks
September 7, 2019 at 3:17 pm #143219
Thanks, John! I use iMovie on my Macbook for the video production. For the ghosting effect, I just overlay one video over another and adjust the amount of opacity.
September 7, 2019 at 2:40 pm #143207
Wow, what a style. Your productions go super professional, the sound is clean, you play perfectly and the video effects are superb. Thank you very much for giving us the benefit of this great work.
September 7, 2019 at 3:41 pm #143239
Flawless! That was really a professional level production. Although I was never a Chet Atkins fan, EP014 kind of reminded me of his style of playing, and then EP015 was totally Clapton.
Have fun at the Clapton/Vaughan concert. I wonder how Eric’s fingers are doing, since it was maybe two years ago that he mentioned he had some neurological illness that was causing him to lose feeling and movement in his fingers. I guess one of the benefits of living in Las Vegas is being able to hear a lot of famous musicians and bands, since almost all of them end up being there at some time or other.
September 7, 2019 at 4:13 pm #143261
Easy listening there and very nicely played well done.
September 7, 2019 at 4:55 pm #143280
Great performance and very nice lessons! Nice idea to combine them. I’ve been trying fingerstyle for some time now, but I’m far from level worth posting 🙂
September 7, 2019 at 6:32 pm #143340
Very nice fingerstyle arrangement played flawlessly. Well done
September 7, 2019 at 7:07 pm #143360
Jola, you have taken your production to a whole new level. Great sound, Great movie, Great playing.
Richard S (jealous me, enjoy Friday!)
September 8, 2019 at 5:32 am #143483
I am so impressed with your playing. What can I say but WOW.
September 8, 2019 at 5:47 am #143486
I just looked up those two lessons and now I am super impressed. You learned those without the loop and speed control and jam tracks. I’m shying away from his early lessons because of that. I’m lost without that. It just takes so much more time and all rewinding. A big KUDOS to you JoLa.
September 8, 2019 at 9:12 am #143548
That was such an uplifting performance, really bright and sunny. All the production talk and filming gets lost on me, but I can appreciate wonderful guitar playing!
Hope you’ll report back on the gig…I did start a gig thread some time ago 😉
September 8, 2019 at 9:33 am #143561
Jola, you have such great control and sense of timing and your a great finger style player. You are ready for the stage! Go out and own it! Sounding awesome every month… Keep them coming! Also, you got to see Clapton this past Friday? I’m jealous!
September 8, 2019 at 3:03 pm #143659
Hey JoLa – that was great! Very creative!
September 8, 2019 at 3:43 pm #143709
Wow JoLa, that was excellent. Your thumb is doing its part well in that finger style, something I find quite difficult. I must look up those two lessons, it is really a good unplugged show you’re putting on there.
Envious of the EC show – have fun.
September 8, 2019 at 6:27 pm #143812
I always make sure I catch your posting. Dang nice. Clapton on Friday, have a great time.
September 8, 2019 at 6:46 pm #143825
That was fantastic. Enjoy the concert. Should be awesome.
September 9, 2019 at 7:06 am #143908
I really enjoyed this, well worth all the hard work. One for the repertoire.
September 9, 2019 at 5:09 pm #144038
JoLa that was top draw. You’re an inspiration for us all to work towards. I have not come across this lesson of Brian’s before and it does seem to require a degree of skill but it looks fun and sounds great. Thank you!
September 9, 2019 at 5:12 pm #144039
That was fantastic JoLa! That’s your best playing yet… and you had the daunting task of doing both parts. Seriously impressive stuff! Loved it!
September 11, 2019 at 7:21 pm #144237
