ParticipantWow, Bob, you succeeded. This really keep the attention of the listener til the end. And Bob, your a storyteller. At first in your introduction with your „love story“. And then you a tell a story with your guitar. And that‘s what it’s all about.

ParticipantThere you go Bob! Great slow build up. Love the crescendo at about the 4:20 mark in the video. Plenty of great riffs here, really great job!

Participant“You might even get frisky and finish with a Big Bang”. You got balls for saying that Bob and it was only bettered by the playing that came afterwards. I started with Griff and attended 3 of the Blues Jams that he used to stage. My first one was in Memphis in 2016 which was a blast. This was followed by Texas in 2017 and the last one I attended was in New York State in 2019. I was all set to attend one in Kalamazoo in 2020 when COVID put an end to it. We have a U.K. Blues Guitar Unleashed Blues Jam group and they usually take place in Yorkshire with about 15 of us. Sadly there haven’t been any for a couple of years but hopefully we might be able to meet up in October or November this year. Always great to see/ hear your efforts Bob.

ParticipantGreat listen here Bob, gritty and cool! Your phrasing pulled us all in and it built to a big payoff.
BTW, I love your t-shirt. During your opening monologue I was trying to pay attention, but my mind kept going “Na na na na, Na na na na…. Sheez! -

ParticipantNice work Bob, I think Kenny Pickett would approve. I agree wholeheartedly that this was not an easy assignment. TOTAL LIGHTBULB MOMENT FOR ME AS WELL. I like your tone and touch of delay. Kind of Stormy Monday-ish but it’s got your stamp on it. Good handling of the major/minor mix, you invoke a myriad of emotions. As I write this, I still cannot play what I want to perform to my satisfaction. I am counting on tonight and tomorrow to try and smooth it out. Anyways, well done! Classic slow blues.

ParticipantLoved it Bob. Your finest yet and I think I’ve said that before so you’re reaching cult status here. Great … great analogy here by the way, music is very much a very sensual expression of life (if you know what I mean) and this is damn good. And that fast lick towards the end, you need a speeding ticket. You’ve even got a Batman T Shirt, it doesn’t get much better than this. All the best! 🥸🎸🥸 PS What backing track is this Bob? It’s a beauty!

ParticipantInteresting PG-rated metaphor intro leading to a very smooth bluesy piece with lots of good phrasing. You really got flying there at the very end. Terrific stuff. Take it on the road. (Perfect tone on the axe, too.)

ParticipantThe best I’ve ever heard you play Bob. You don’t sound like you’ve been Slacking to me. Excellent build-up to the third date. Loved that whispering bit at 4:15. Someone’s getting lucky after that conversation.

ParticipantWay to go, Bobby! That is a truly interesting approach, and 100% well played. The maj/min pent changes were happening so fast that they were messing with my brain as it tried to keep up. Guess I’ll have to listen to it twice….

ParticipantWell played Bob. I bought that same slow blues course from Griff years ago too and I still find it immensely helpful for improvising and especially for playing maj/min in each of the 5 areas. Can’t play it all up to tempo but who knows, maybe one day?

ParticipantExcellent playing. Nice to see the written plan in what you set out to do. Plus your storytelling on 💕 and it’s influence although I was transfixed on the golf print in the background thinking about the 16th par 3 at Augusta. Nice touch at the 4.17 mark with a lot of substance all round.

ParticipantWell mission accomplished, you grabbed my attention for the full two minutes, no problem. Awesome playing! So many gold nuggets in there like the trills and that little rake. I like how you eased the tone up each cycle too. It really all kicked off at 4:26 of cycle 3 with that blinding lick! I might be guilty of a few improper thoughts wondering what was going on at that point 😋😂.

And your solo was a masterclass, you have indeed done an incredible work on that! I do love how it goes from the “first date” mode gradually gaining momentum and then finally ending with the “Big Bang”! 😉 You’re such a great player and storyteller, very entertaining production as always 😉

ParticipantVery entertaining video!
Loved how you built up the 3 cycles, you had my attention for every single note😊. Good idea to add a quick change👍. Everything was right in your slow blues: you kept space, landed on interesting notes, real nice runs and riffs in each cycle…and a fantastic tremolo! That fast run near the end sounded tasty.
One of your best subs, well done.

I think he schooled you well. That was a very nice take.. pretty good building blocks up thru the choruses. Some scary tone, too. What the heck is that? flanger? Chorus? I don’t use those but it sounds real good on your rig. Great job once again.Bruce

ParticipantWow Bobby. That was stunning. You did just what you said starting off slow and taking us on quite the journey.
Even with a little relaxation in 3rd chorus before hitting crescendo.
Afraid to think what would happen on 4th chorus (date) +;)Great intro too. Did you actually take lessons from Griff in person?
If so he taught you well.Best Marc v

ParticipantHey Marc,
I did take some personal one-on-one lessons with Griff. Back in my Younin’ Days when I was getting started on guitar. I flew out to Corona, CA and spent two days two hours a day with him. Changed my playing quickly! As does Brian with his lessons. Both incredible teachers!
Peace,
