Wow, this guitar thing is hard. The more I learn and the more I practice and the better I get the end result is that there is an endless amount of learning to be done. This week’s lesson on modes is an example. I understand modes just a little bit. What Brian put together there is quite a bit in one lesson. Plus I learn best by asking questions which doesn’t work so well with online lesson plans but it’s convenient of course. Then I get pulled in a thousand directions. I know that I love rock solos and lead and rockabilly stuff. So now I’m maybe 70% into a rock solo course. I have just started a rockabilly course. Then Brian puts out a lesson like EP477 Dorian Licks and I really want to dig into that. Plus I need to play stuff I’ve already learned to keep them fresh in my mind. Plus I want to have fun and jam to some backing tracks. Let’s not even talk finger style, alternate tunings, slide guitar. I should have started this at age 8. How do you guys organize this in your minds?
