Hello Happy Jammers, hope you are all well and awesome!

Ive had a busy couple of days with life getting in the way!

The last jam was so much fun wasnt it!!

For the next jam consensus pointed in the direction of the beautiful Jimi backing track from Brains Hendrix rhythm lesson.

*******THE BACKING TRACK HAS THE GUITAR RHYTHM IN IT SO HAVE A GO AT A SOLO*********

I also uploaded the pdf with the chord progression.

    ********Set your BPM to 168********

I have uploaded the extended backing track to the box account.
http://www.box.com username is [email protected] pwd = AMJammers001

I noticed that some people uploaded their track with their timeslot in the filename. GREAT IDEA!! It lets everyone know where the next timeslot is!! Brilliant AND talented!! Lets try and keep that as a standard file name convention. I have modified the jam instructions to reflect this.

So lets get cracking and have some FUN!!!!

The backing track seems to already have the guitar part in it?? Are we supposed to add a guitar part to that?

      Thanks in advance.

      Kevin,
I think you are right. It should be the first backing track without guitar. It is basically a rhythm lesson.

      Craig,
I think that’s too busy to solo over. I did fill out the backing track a little just strumming the chord on the first of the two bars and then hitting the E#9 chord during the last two bars. That left all kinds of room to solo with double stops and melody lines. I can’t make my solo work over this.

      Craig,
I uploaded a file to the download only file, just for you to hear and consider if going without Brian’s guitar might be an option. I guess it can work with Brian’s guitar but it’s not my preference.

Yeh, it just needs a simpler rhythm guitar without the Hendrix licks. The bare jamtrack is too bare.

I just finished uploading the rhythm track you asked for. I didn’t see this post and think I might have deleted yours. I put in enough for about 10 solos if we take 2 rounds each. Sorry about the confusion. This should give just enough context and allow more room for the solos.

      Blue,
I intended the strums to be pretty subtle and just be present in the background of the solo. They’re probably louder than what I originally sent to Craig and it sounded good. Easy enough to change if I can get a little consensus. Craig, you still up? Any thoughts?

Am I the only person to be baffled by this?:

When I heard the count-in followed by the seemingly unrelated backing track, I wondered what’s going on here? A bit of software analysis revealed that the jamtrack is not actually 168 BPM. Each beat is played as a triplet, so it counts as 1 la le, 2 la le, 3 la le, 4 la le = 12 16th notes per bar. The actual BPM is 168/3 = 56. At 168 BPM it’s actually a waltz: 1,2,3 1,2,3. Which doesn’t sound very Hendrix-like to me, for some reason. Oh well…

Think there is another problem, i recorded my track starting at 0 to 73.
After the upload, there is nothing at 0 but someone else track starting around 500
Did that after my second attempt , cuz i forgot to mute the backtrack.
Did a third attempt and again nothing at 0 someonr else around 500.
SO my first attempt is the best one but with tha backtrack.
      Im confused here now.

      Andre,
I recorded the rhythm at 168 but my DAW may have been in 4/4 time. I’m not sure what difference that makes but I think recording at 168 b/m in 4/4 time gives the right result. Going through the piece twice seems to be lasting 1 minute, 11-12 sec. Easiest for Craig if you can see how many have uploaded and then fit your solo in the slot after that as the backing track turns over. I’m at work and blocked out of BOX right now but when I’m home I’ll see how you made out.

I fixed your submission and re-uploaded it. I think this 3/4 vs 4/4 time is wreaking havoc. I think I multiplied your tempo by 4/3 for a tempo of 224. Don’t ask me why that worked. You were really in the spirit and took a third round so you lasted about 1 min 46 sec, you sly devil.

Unfortunately Wblues has requested his submission excluded due to technical difficulties. I think we can all relate to THAT! I hope he will be in on the next jam and would like to ask him, if no one has any objections, to select the next backing track.

I think we can call that a wrap!! at 12 minutes 44 seconds.

I have downloaded everyones contribution and will have a mix ready later today.

Thanks everyone for all your support and technical assistance.
