She’s really adorable! It’s amazing how she can make smooth chord changes with those barre chords! 🙂
I also found a few collaboration videos of her with other musicians. This one below is my favorite!

wow, unbelievable talent. 6 years old? I would probably even call this prodigy level talent. I really enjoyed this, thanks for sharing.

Her parents beat her and make her go to bed with no supper if she makes a mistake.

Well, by your comment, it seems to me that your parents failed to raise you properly, Steve!

Well it looks like your making a lot of assumptions on what could be wry humour, good video it would nice to have seen her smile.

Wry Humour? I don’t know, man! It sounded racist to me. But let’s wait for Steve to clarify.
Steve, are you a racist, a comedian, or both? Asking for a friend!

I have often wondered about that, no not if Steve was raise properly but these little genius kids who do astounding things but never seem to look as if they are enjoying themselves, could it be their genius makes it too easy for them?.

It’s a joke, nothing to do with race or gender. It would be fair to say that most 6 year old kids would not have the necessary attention span to learn to play guitar that well. When I was her age, I was told I had to learn piano, and I hated every minute of it. It was beyond boring, and all I wanted to do was to go outside and play. But seriously, it does make you wonder whether young kids like this really enjoy it, or do they do it out of fear. What do you think about these kids?

I mentioned that the girl failed to smile and I think that is what Stevie is noticing there was no joy. Some parents and coaches berate kids and fail to praise them to the point their crying. Maybe we should try that on AM no obsequious sycophantic comments just raw criticism and no praise. Would anyone be smiling.

It’s okay! You don’t have to defend him!

well, I know I wouldn’t be. I get more enjoyment out of the great feed back on here than I do trying to learn a lesson hahahaha

Appears what you say about child prodigies and joy may be right, found this on web quote” We often associate the early years of childhood with taking joy in simple things, living in the present and an inability to think through the consequences of actions. Instead, says Kendall, watching gifted toddlers, “it’s almost as if someone has taken an 18-year-old and put them in a newborn body”.
There were some comments in those videos about Autotune being used on her voice which I had never heard of also found one guy on YouTube using it on guitar but it didn’t handle bends. Please note I am not hintig you need Autotune 😃 your playing was quite good before you stopped wonder if any on AM use Autotune.
Hey Jeff I am not trying to defend Stevie just trying to reason his comments, he has been on AM for a while and definitely not racist.

Yes, I did see comments about auto tune. Its not really a big deal imho and though I don’t use it myself I think it is only another tool in the tool box of music, we think nothing of adding distortion/compression/whatever else to guitaring so why not autotune.

Good point Richard I know many of us and although I have not posted, have tried recording and had problems from sweaty hands and recording jitters, so not a happy experience if your not used to it, however you would expect a child to be happy at doing something like this. With the blues it is different again your trying to get the emotion in and after watching daddystovepipe play sometimes the head just goes down after playing and he’s done.

Here’s an interview of her that I found. She seems to be a happy kid to me!
“I think learning musical instruments will make me very good. But I still want to be a doctor because I want to protect my family.”

Some while back Moderator Pete noticed me smiling at the end of a recording for a monthly challenge and during his round up of all the submissions he mentioned the smile, what he didn’t know, ‘it was a touch of wind’

That sounds really beautiful, both guitar and voice, but I also have mixed feelings when I see small children like this play so amazingly well for their age. I guess nothing comes for free, and surely it’s not just talent, but a *lot* of hours practicing – which leads to almost no play time, I suppose. Who knows the real story behind this!

The thing is that if I would’ve posted Toby Lee’s video when he was eight, or Taj Farrant when he was seven, I don’t think I’ll get the same comments!
Here’s a young kid who started playing because he wanted to imitate his father. “Almost no play time?” How can you tell that he’s not enjoying this? I’ve been following this kid since 2007, the time when Canon Rock became popular.
Watch this video, Jaime. Perhaps you can figure out the real story behind it!

BTW, racism is not allowed in New Zealand. I have lived here for half my life, and I’ve never heard, or heard of, a single racist comment (though there must be a few). There are 5 million people in New Zealand, and only about 35% of them were born here. When I went for my citizenship ceremony, there were 300 new citizens in the auditorium, and only about 10 or us were of European origin. The rest were from Asian countries (China, India, Indonesia, Malaysia), Philippines, South Pacific Islands. When it comes to skin color, people in New Zealand are color-blind. And we like the fact that many people wear their native clothes – from Tongans to muslims. We all get along.

That’s good to know, Steve! 🙂
I took offense to your comment because I didn’t think it was appropriate, specially for a six year old girl who’s only trying to share her music. Perhaps it was just a momentary lapse of judgement on your part. Let’s move on and just get along!

Without a doubt, she’ll be a great musician someday! 🙂
That young kid who was tapping on his guitar in 2007 is all grown up! Here he is now, 13 years and over 6 million subscribers later…

Hey Jeff, no hard feelings!
Of course I can’t figure out the real story behind those videos. That’s what I say I have mixed feelings, specially when it’s a superb classical guitar interpretation by a very young child. Also, nothing to do with race or gender, I can think the same on cases like Macaulay Culkin or Greta Thunberg 🙂
