Hello everyone,
My Dad passed away last month and I’ve dusted off this traditional song I wrote for him.
Sixteen years ago I had the opportunity to play the main stage at our local music festival, when I told my Mum and Dad, they in their mid seventies at the time, decided to drive the 3500 km from their home in central Canada to my home in the west of the country. I wrote this traditional song and we worked it in to the half hour set, it was an early time slot so the audience was split between the work shop stages and main stage but there were still 500 – 600 folks watching. I introduced them along with the song, it was a special moment for us both.
I did the gig with a drummer and keyboard player and playing it standalone with nowhere to hide is definitely a lot tougher.
