My friend has a Tascam DP32-SD Portastudio and knows next to nothing about PC computers.
I record with Garageband on Macbook Pro. We would like to figure out how to remotely collaborate on songs. The easiest (for me) way would be to get him to switch to some computer-based DAW but that’s not going to happen, he’s a very old school kinda guy and Tascam recorder is his “thing”.
Let’s say he recorded a jam track. We know we can transfer the jam track as a WAV file from his Portastudio to his PC. We can then upload it to some “cloud” storage so I can download it and add a guitar solo in my Garageband. Ok – but now what? My question is:
Is it possible to import a WAV file (my solo) into the Tascam Portastudio and use it in the mix as if I had recorded it directly? Does anyone here have any experience doing that? What’s the best way to go about it given the circumstances?
I’m going to help my friend with the PC computer, maybe download a free DAW such as Audacity. But I’m not sure if it’s even necessary to do that if he only wants to use his Portastudio.
I would appreciate any input you can give me. Thanks a lot in advance 🙂
