So I have spent many hours watching youtube vids on effects peddles and I mean HOURS! What started it all was I have a couple hundred bucks burning a hole in my pocket, I decided there is no point in buying a pedal at least not until I get more experienced and fluent with my actual playing, so then I watched this vid where this guy is using a Carvin Holdsworth Fatboy HF2 Guitar for ambient playing, I compared this with a strat (another couple hours on youtube) and came away even more confused…..although I could clearly hear a difference in the sound (tone) of the two guitars, it dawned on me that you can get any sound out of any guitar using pedal hardware or in my case fender mustang software so can anyone give me a good reason to spend $1500 on a guitar when there is so little difference in the sound of a $500 unit?.
I hear all this talk about maple necks and guys boasting how much they have spent on various pickups and string combinations when at the end of the day you have to listen very closely in many cases to hear the difference.
since I have decided not to buy any pedals I thought maybe i’ll just save for a nice hollow body guitar…..least that’s the reason for this thread lol
Neil.
