I have an account with Clyp, but barely used it so far. It has pro and cons, more pros though than SoundCloud. You get a very decent amount of audio time with the free basic account, something like 6 hours. That’s the free part too.
You don’t need an app to hear songs posted on the site when someone listens with a phone, SoundCloud you do now.
SoundCloud no longer lets you embed a player when you post, like to here. You used to be able to click a play button right from the forums here, but, now, you have to go to the site to listen.
Clyp allows you to embed from your favorite forum.
The down side to Clyp, and this is just me, is the file size limit. The best quality audio would be a 24 bit wav file. But, those get big. Hideaway, that I posted here a few days ago is 140 megabytes in 24 bit wav form. Clyp, on the free side, limits to 100 megabyte file size. So, if you can live with a little quality loss, it still isn’t that bad of a deal.
Check it out.. here is the FAQ for the site..

I’ve been wondering about the rumor that SoundCloud is going bankrupt. Maybe the best option is to just post your audio on YouTube. Lots of people do. Pick a nice photo as a background.

Yea, now the rumor is they have been saved.. The problem though, is they disabled all the neat things that made it worth the effort to use. People with phones get sent to the app stores, etc. You can’t play directly for a forum post, you get sent to their web site.
I am in touch with Clyp support to iron this one out here. Works fine on Face Book, etc..

Ah, I was wondering why you have me as a test pilot. This was a recording I made possibly a year or so back may be even a bit more…
I uploaded it to Clyp and it links here https://clyp.it/ddk1np4g?token=155d388fdcf165fc05063a091a516bfb..Billy..

ok, wow that was fast on Clyp’s part.. The problem is this site. AM is blocking the embedding, according to clyp support guy. (the co-founder actually helped me, which says a lot, or, they haven’t gotten to big yet.. lol)
