Interesting article, eh John?? LOL 🙂

Alvin was one of three performers that I regret not seeing play live – Duane Allman & Gary Moore are the other 2

You trying to get a rise out of me, Keith?
I could see anybody being envious of Alvin’s performance at that concert. Jimi was pretty humble. Didn’t he aslo say that Terry Kath was the greatest guitarist in the world?
For my money, though, I still don’t think there’s anyone more innovative than Jimi or anyone that combined lead and rhythm better.
Strange that the author implied Jimi set his Stratocaster on fire at Woodstock.
Unfortunately, I missed Jimi when he opened for the Monkees in Toronto. I hadn’t quite discovered Jimi yet.

I wouldn’t dream of doing such a thing John 😉 LOL That article just popped up on Facebook

I’d heard that Jimi was totally impressed by Terry Kath and hoped to produce him at some point. Sad that Terry got careless like he did – it’s the unloaded gun that has killed so many

Jimi & Alvin had their strengths for sure – as Alvin said many times, he liked to play from the hip, his improv was amazing. People know him for his speed but his playing was so melodic in every instance.

One of Alvin’s great strengths was how he wove from one style of music to another so effortlessly. As the critics said in the early days, Ten Years After need to figure out if they were a rock band or a jazz band.
Much of Jimi’s innovation came from the use of effects & feedback – Alvin on the other hand plugged into the amp and never used effects; he said that he had enough to be concerned about without whether a pedal was on or whether it was set correctly
Both gave a lot to the music of their era and for that we can be grateful

Yeah to experience Davy Jones singing Daydream Believer with Jimi on guitar instead of Michael Nesmith – that would have been interesting LOL
