Or as I call it, my Guitar Shaped Object (GSO).

Picture of GSO

People mock First Act for being Wal-Mart guitars, but I did my research for what I could find on my limited budget.  The ME448 got good reviews for the weight, the body and neck.  The tuners were judged to be acceptable.  Many of the reviewers commented that they bought it to mod and was pleasantly surprised.  It isn’t a great guitar, but in the hands of this n00b, it is working just fine.  Guitar, for me, is not a primary instrument.  A pretty good deal for $50.

It has been to a luthier and been through a set-up, had the frets checked, neck set, new Ernie Ball strings put on and all electronics checked and tightened.

Later this year, I intend to install single-coil pups.

$50 for a decent playing guitar isn’t bad at all - who cares if it’s cheap or comes from Walmart, if it plays ok and you can learn on it - then you’ve definitely made a wise investment.
