I’m not a huge Jahawks fan, but I like some of their stuff and I like the understated lead guitar when he finally takes a solo (usually about 2/3 through the song) such as in this video around 2:15. It only lasts about 15 seconds, but I like it a whole lot.

I was surprised the other day though, as I listened to one of their songs and heard some Stairway to Heaven in this song.  Again, it only lasts about 15 seconds, but I think the Jimmy Page influence is undeniable.  EDIT: starting at about 3:34 and esp. 3:37
What do you think?

Have any other good alt country leads guitarists or surprising influences?

Thanks for sharing - great solo - I love solos like that… with a nice mixture of twang / blues.  I hear Jimmy Page, but more Keith Richards to be honest - especially the way that the solo ends.. that’s right out of the Keith Richards playbook.

Do you mean the first video I posted?  I didn’t put the time in the second one,  though I meant to and added it. At that point in the second video it sounds heavily inspired by Stairway to me.
