Hi,

in your video you said that acoustic guitar is better for begginers then electric… What about eletric acoustic?

By electric acoustic are you referring to a standard hollow-body electric guitar (like a Gibson ES 335) or an acoustic guitar that has a pickup in it so that it can be plugged in.  To be honest, either of those scenarios would be perfectly fine for learning to play guitar.  You could even start learning on an electric guitar, the only difference is that it’s SO much easier - which means when you get around to picking up an acoustic you might struggle a little.  I just like the simplicity of an acoustic - no amps needed, just music at it’s purest.

If you run into any other questions along the way feel free to post smile

well I was reffering more to STAGG SW203CETU… Or similar… I assume that if you play without amp it is very similar to acoustic guitar. Or am I wrong? :D
One more question: is there amp for acoustic and eletric like all in one, or they have to be separate amps?

btw, nice site and wery educational videos

Hey Siddharta, ah ok so the Stagg acoustic guitar with a pickup (great starter guitar by the way).  Yes, that is considered an acoustic guitar (even though technically it can be plugged into an amp), so your playing style on that guitar would be no different than playing on an acoustic guitar with no pickup.

As for your second question, usually they are separate because they handle tones very differently, although there’s nothing stopping you from plugging your Stagg acoustic into a regular electric guitar amplifier (that’s what I usually do), I’ve never bought an actual acoustic amp - although I do love the way they sound.

I’m having a problem with those same sections, 7.3, 7.4, 8.2, 10.4, 10.5 and 10.6.  The screen shows “Playback disabled…please visit http://www.motionbox.com for more information.  When I click the link I get either motionbox or snapfish account sign-up pages.  Can anyone offer some help in getting them to play?

Ah yes - thanks for reminding me of these!  The reason they didn’t make the upload is because at the time I was doing it YouTube only allowed 10 minutes per video and those videos happened to exceed 10 minutes.  I’m now an official YouTube partner so I can put videos up that are longer that 10 minutes.  I will try and get them up this evening or tomorrow!

Hi Brian:

I’m new here and I’m trying to play the slow temple version of lesson 4.6, “When the Saints go Marching In’.  When I click on the link, http://www.activemelody.com/lesson_mp3s/beginner/part4/60_BPM_When_The_Saints_simple_chords.mp3, I get a file not found.

Can you help me get to that file?

Thanks,

Glen

Thanks for putting this site together.  Just thought I’d tap your shoulder about getting those up.

Also, the link for the tablature goes to the wrong place http://www.activemelody.com/beginner_guitar_lesson_detail/5_13_third_song_full_chords

THanks again.
