I’m not sure if you have been following the PS3/360 game Rocksmith? The game actually takes your real guitar (not that plastic Rock Band thingy) and let you plug it in and play the guitar based game.

Rocksmith has a lot to offer, from practicing a simple song (like almost having a tutor) to playing a music game with instrument effects put into the game (without having to buy all those expensive equipment.

I go back and forth with most music/singing/dance based “games” but when it comes down to it…. if the game is teaching or getting the next generation into The Arts, how can this be a bad thing? I think of it like a great stepping stone or launch pad.

Wow, that’s an awesome concept.  I agree if this gets kids learning how to really play a guitar (as opposed to pushing colorful buttons on a piece of plastic), then I’m all for it!  I’m still trying to wrap my head around how accurate this could be though.  It seems like there would be a delay between when you hit the note and when the sound could be processed and played - a lot like those MIDI guitars, but who knows.. maybe they’ve worked that out.  I’ll definitely give it a try - KoolRock, are you inviting me over for a run through?
