I just want to say how I’m sad because of the death of Calvin Russel. He was a great blues and rock singer and an awesome guitar hero.
He had a tough life and all his songs were full of sensibility, humanity and great texts.
He was a humble man, not very well known in USA (he was from Texas), but I found a second home in here in France, where his beautiful music was discovered and appreciated by french public.

He passed on 3rd April , he was 62 years old.

He was was born in Austin and spend the first part of his life playing guitar with great blues and country men like Townes Van Zandt, Willie Nelson and Leon Russell.

Rest in peace Calvin, your music and your voice have followed me all my life in the best and the worse times.
You were a great man.

Hey Patrick, thanks for sharing about Calvin Russell (is he related to Leon?) - I honestly can say I don’t know anything about him, but I’ll going to download some of his stuff and let you know what I think.  I love the artists that you said he played with (Townes Van Zandt, Willie Nelson, etc) so I’m sure I’ll like him.

You’re welcome smile

I think that his best song is “Crossroads”, I love the guitar sound on this song.
He was not known in USA, although he was from Austin, Texas.
He had been throwned in jail many times in USA and Mexico because of Drugs and intensive alchool use and you can notice that ha had a tough life on his face and listening to his voice.
I had a great success in France where he lived for a small time before he returned to Texas.
Well I think he was a natural and humble blues/rock man.
