8.1 Section Overview
Course Objective
In this section, palm muting and 12-bar blues rhythm will be introduced. To palm mute you will rest the palm of the hand right hand on the strings (near the bridge) while strumming. Palm muting produces a chunky rock ‘n roll sound. Palm muting can be used in combination with 12-bar blues rhythm, which is a formula of twelve bars which are played, then looped. This pattern is used in blues and rock ‘n roll music.
