This Section Of The Beginner Guitar Course Covers The Following:

In this section you will learn to play the full G chord. The open position G chord is started with the simple G chord. Fingers do not touch the fret, but are very close to it.

When creating the Full G Chord, these are the fingerings you would use:

  • Third finger, third fret, first string
  • Middle finger, third fret, sixth string
  • First finger, second fret, fifth string
  • Strum all six strings

Each note should ring out clean and clear. Each finger should be arched and not touching other strings unintentionally. The left thumb always supports the back of the neck. Your fingers will hurt when you first start playing these notes, but over time this will lessen.
