4.2 Introducing The Simple G Chord
This Section Of The Beginner Guitar Course Covers The Following:
Simple open position chords are a good place to begin. They are played in the first position with some open strings. The "top string" on the guitar is called the top string - not by location but by note, where top meaning highest note. So it may seem backwards but that's the way it's referred. A simple G chord uses the first (bottom) three strings versus full G chord which uses all six strings. Push down to create different notes. Pushing down on the first string, third fret with the first finger creates the simple G chord. The note should sound clean with no buzzing. Buzzing might occur if the finger is not close enough to the fret or if not pushing down hard enough. A beginner’s finger might hurt on an acoustic guitar, but is the correct technique. The hurt will lessen with time. Pay attention to left thumb placement.
