How To Put New Strings On A Steel String Acoustic Guitar
This video shows you how to put new strings on a steel string acoustic guitar. Steel guitar strings have a bearing on the end of the string that typically goes into a hole on the body of the guitar and is held in place by a peg. Watch this video for detail.
How To Put New Strings On A Nylon String Acoustic Guitar
This video shows you how to put new strings on (or change strings) on a nylon string acoustic guitar, also known as a classical guitar. There is a big difference in the way that the string attaches to the body of the guitar between the nylon and steel-string. The nylon string ties to the bridge, whereas the steel string goes down into a hole on the body. Also, nylon strings do not have a bearing on one end. Watch this video for detail.
How To Put New Strings On An Electric (Solid-Body) Guitar
This video shows you how to put new strings on a standard solid body guitar. In this example I used a Fender Stratocaster, but most solid body electric guitars are set up the same way so this video should apply to whatever your brand your guitar is.
How To Put New Strings On An Electric (Hollow-Body) Guitar
This video goes into detail on changing the string on an electric hollow-body guitar (Gibson ES-335). Not all hollow body guitars are the same, but they are usually similar in set up - so this video should help you understand the mechanics.
This Section Of The Beginner Guitar Course Covers The Following:
This lesson will demonstrate how to put steel strings on a acoustic guitar and how to put nylon strings on a classical guitar. There are also videos that show how to put strings on a solid body electric guitar, and one that shows how to put strings on a hollow-body electric guitar.
Different gauges of string give different tones. The thicker the string, the bolder the sound, but they are harder to play. Therefore, if you are just learning to play the guitar, I suggest you use the Ernie Ball medium – light. acoustic coated steel strings. They hold up longer and sound better than other strings in my opinion.
